Furnishings of the living area & bathrooms of the manor house

The manor house Hofgut Bärenschlössle is the landmark of Freudenstadt, a uniquely situated, manorial estate built in 1627 in a magnificent secluded location on the edge of the forest with a game reserve on the Finkenberg in the Christophstal valley with panoramic views of Freudenstadt.

It is one of the few buildings to have survived the great city fires of 1632 and 1945. Lovingly restored and renovated in 1967 and 2017, it is modernly and tastefully furnished and ideally situated on the edge of the forest, ensuring you have everything you need for an unforgettable holiday.

The impressive 450 m² of living space is divided into two units within the same building, offering 220 m² and 230 m² of living space respectively. Each unit has a separate entrance on different levels and sides of the manor house and its own private outdoor area.

The manor house at Hofgut Bärenschlössle 2, with its 220 square meters of living space, exudes warmth from its self-supporting timber structure, and the generously proportioned rooms invite you to spend time together and enjoy pleasant hours. The surrounding meadows and the small lake complete the idyllic panorama.

The large, spacious living room with open kitchen and dining room offers plenty of natural light and coziness, and the exposed beams, the tiled stove (not heatable) and thick masonry are special features.

On the first floor there are also two bedrooms (one with a four-poster bed) and a bathroom (with underfloor heating). The spacious spiral staircase leads to the second floor with its three very spacious bedrooms, a living room, a laundry room, and a large bathroom with toilet (and underfloor heating).

There is a terrace with a barbecue.

All kitchens in the Black Forest dream holiday homes are characterized by particularly good equipment, including the kitchen in Bärenschlössle 2.

Are you looking for a great place to stay as well as an event venue, ideally right across the street? Then this is the perfect place for corporate events, and the estate is a real insider tip as a fantastic wedding location!

The location

Nature, relaxation and a pure Black Forest experience in the beautiful Christophstal valley

The manor house on the Bärenschlössle estate is idyllically situated in the Christophstal valley near Freudenstadt. This valley is one of the most beautiful in the northern Black Forest. Here you can enjoy the tranquility of nature while still being just a 15-minute walk from Freudenstadt's market square – incidentally, the largest enclosed market square in Germany.

The Christophstal valley has undergone extensive improvements in recent years and now offers numerous opportunities for recreation, exercise, and family activities. Along the approximately seven-kilometer-long valley trail between Freudenstadt and Baiersbronn, nature, walking paths, interactive stations, and attractive rest areas combine to create a special destination for visitors of all ages.

Nature right on your doorstep

From the estate, you can set off directly on walks, hikes, and bike tours through the diverse Black Forest landscape. Many leisure activities are located nearby, so you can often leave your car parked during your stay.

A particular highlight is the red deer enclosure directly behind the estate. Here, deer and roe deer can be observed up close – a wonderful experience for families and nature lovers.

Family-friendly environment

Christophstal offers numerous opportunities for children and families. Several play and recreation areas are just a few minutes' walk away.

The area around the former ski jump is particularly popular, with its large stainless steel slides leading directly into an adventure and forest playground. Here, children can play, explore, and experience nature.

Hiking, cycling and enjoying the Black Forest in its purest form

Numerous hiking and cycling trails begin right at your doorstep. The region around Freudenstadt and Baiersbronn is one of the most popular hiking areas in the Black Forest and offers diverse tours, impressive views, and cozy places to stop for refreshments in traditional inns and mountain huts.

Culinary experiences

Freudenstadt and Baiersbronn are among Germany's most renowned culinary regions. From traditional Black Forest inns to award-winning gourmet restaurants, connoisseurs will find an exceptional variety here.

Historic estate with a special atmosphere

The Bärenschlössle estate includes not only the manor house but also a stylish event barn, which is regularly used for weddings, family celebrations, and corporate events. The historic ensemble lends the property its special character and creates a unique atmosphere.

Very nice holiday apartment

April 20, 2026

As a group of eight siblings, we spent three days at Bärenschlössle 2. It's a truly lovely apartment with fantastic showers and a very cozy dining area. The dining table is perfect for chatting and playing games. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The two excellent showers with underfloor heating deserve special mention. However, this apartment is only partially suitable
In that case, the other apartment on the ground floor would be a better choice.
While the center of Freudenstadt is only 700 meters away as the crow flies, the walk there
involves a steep incline.
Nevertheless, we highly recommend this apartment and would gladly return.

We were a group of four families with six babies and toddlers. Our stay was very relaxing, the atmosphere very cozy, and the apartment's amenities left little to be desired. The only slight challenge was the arrangement of the beds in the different rooms. There were too few double beds overall. Unfortunately, the single beds couldn't bepushed together to make a wider bed, as they were screwed to the ceiling. The apartment's location just outside Freudenstadt is excellent, as it's usually very quiet. However, there might be an event or celebration taking place in the neighboring building. Fortunately, the thick walls of the Bärenschlössle (Little Bear Castle) block out much noise. You can set off on walks or explore the Black Forest by bicycle directly from the accommodation. And currently, the Tal-X Garden Show is even taking place right on the doorstep (https://www.tal-x.de/), although it only runs until October 12, 2025. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and can wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation.

The holiday apartment is truly fantastic – the spacious living and dining area is a particular highlight, offering plenty of room for socializing. The room layout is also incredibly well thought out, ensuring everyone feels right at home.
The view down to Freudenstadt is simply breathtaking, and the location surrounded by nature, right next to the deer enclosure, makes the stay even more special. Fromhere, you can take wonderful walks and enjoy the peace and quiet.
A big thank you also goes to Achim, the landlord: he is a great contact person, very welcoming, and always ready to help.
We felt completely at ease and can absolutely recommend the apartment!
We've stayed there twice now and will definitely be back!!
