Gateway to wellness heaven – “Close to heaven”
On the third floor (attic level) lies the absolute highlight of your stay in our unique holiday apartments: a wellness oasis. Enjoy a sauna experience like you're in paradise. Relax after your sauna session on the incredibly comfortable loungers. Take a warm foot bath. Here, as throughout the entire house, the combination of old and new creates a cozy atmosphere. A complimentary glass of tea will help even the most hectic soul unwind. Through the skylights, you can gaze at the sky, the tops of the Black Forest fir trees, or the tower of our St. Martin's Church.
The wellness area is exclusively yours to use. Each apartment will have a reserved time slot on our on-site booking list. This allows you to enjoy your time as if in a private sauna.

Our cozy meeting place and lounge is the bakery.
A true gem with freshly restored old stone walls. Historic tables and chairs invite you to linger in the approximately 35 square meter room.
The wood-fired oven (Häussler) is fueled with wood.
An old jukebox can be used. Up to 25 people can comfortably sit at the festively set table.
Why do we call our apartments "Gate"?
Upon arrival, you'll encounter a remarkable house. Little suggests that, coming from the town center, you'll find yourself entering the gateway to breathtaking views of the Black Forest. Prepare to be surprised.
The open-plan apartment offers plenty of natural light and a cozy atmosphere, with exposed beams and a high ceiling featuring a skylight. The spacious room spans the entire half of the house and includes an open-plan kitchen with a dining area, as well as a living area with a sofa bed, smart TV, and a large double bed (1.80 x 2.00 m). The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, and the dining area seats four. From the bed, you have a direct view of the Black Forest and can be separated from the living area with a curtain. The south-facing balcony offers space for four people and breathtaking views. The bright bathroom with a walk-in shower includes a toilet, sink, mirror, and hairdryer. The apartment is located on the second floor and is easily accessible by elevator.
The four beautifully furnished holiday apartments are located in a listed building that underwent extensive renovation and modernization over three years. A cozy reading corner with a selection of books is available for all guests. A wellness area, newly built in 2021, complete with a sauna, relaxation loungers, and much more, is sure to delight our guests. The bakery can be booked upon request as a lounge, bakery, or meeting room.
The elevator provides convenient access to the relevant floor, where you can enter the apartment without any further barriers. The modern wall heating system has been cleverly integrated into the traditional clay plaster, thus preserving the charm of the house.
All apartments feature an open-plan living and dining area with a modern fitted kitchen. The kitchen includes a four-burner ceramic hob, a refrigerator with freezer compartment, an oven, a coffee machine, a toaster, and a dishwasher. Dishes, cups, glasses, tea towels, and many other useful kitchen utensils are also provided.
A smart TV and a comfortable sofa area invite you to relax. All bathrooms are modern and well-equipped, and the showers are walk-in. High chairs and cots are available upon request.
Internet and Wi-Fi are available throughout the holiday home. A washing machine, tumble dryer, and useful cleaning supplies are centrally located in the house and are available to all guests. Each apartment has its own special charm and great attention to detail.

Perched atop the city walls, this holiday home offers not only sweeping panoramic views of the Black Forest but also proximity to the historic old town. The medieval town of Dornstetten has much to offer, so that in addition to everyday amenities, small cafes and bars are within easy walking distance. The enchanting old town with its half-timbered houses, medieval market square, and charming shops can also be explored on foot. Cultural attractions in Dornstetten include a guided tour of the historic old town, the local history museum, the doll and toy museum, and the summer open-air theater. In Hallwangen, a district of Dornstetten, there is a barefoot park and a high ropes course , where nature can be experienced with all the senses.
The forest and nature, as well as many great hiking huts with catering, invite you to take short walks or longer hikes in the surrounding area; here you will find tips for hiking in the Black Forest.
Freudenstadt, with Germany's largest market square, is only 8 km away. The Black Forest High Road is a highlight in both summer and winter, featuring the Lothar Path for running and learning, winter sports facilities, and ski lifts. The major cities of Baden-Württemberg, such as Stuttgart, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, and Baden-Baden, as well as Lake Constance, can be reached in about an hour by car.
