Features of the log house

Here you'll find something truly special for your cabin holiday. The log cabin/self-catering cabin has approximately 110 m² of living space and offers accommodation for 12 people in wooden cloud-shaped sleeping boxes with privacy screens between each box. An additional 4 people can sleep in modern camp beds in the log cabin.

During your adventure holiday, you heat your self-catering cabin using the wood available on site, thanks to your own masonry heater.

Their food isn't from a gourmet restaurant; instead, the man and woman cook it themselves: they use our 60-year-old wood-burning stove with a "ship" (a type of oven).

Afterwards, you can gaze out over the Black Forest valley from the open gallery with its catwalk and sleeping areas. Or you can chill and relax on the 60 m² relaxation deck with a beautiful view of the Kinzig Valley.

You'll feel like you're back in your grandmother's day when you use the rustic wood and retro bathroom with wooden tub shower.

The location

Location in the Kinzig Valley

The Black Forest log cabin is located in Schenkenzell in the Kinzig Valley, right next to the Württemberg border in Baden. It enjoys a peaceful setting in a small side valley of the Kinzig River, at the end of a cul-de-sac, directly on the edge of the forest. Hiking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking tours can be started directly from your Black Forest cabin. We recommend the hike to the Theisenkopf mountain . Numerous other attractions await you as well.

A charming and cozy holiday home. Great terrace, lovely wood-burning stove. Comfortable beds.
We weren't entirely satisfied with the sauna. It wasn't very well maintained, and the path to the house wasn't ideal at night, even with the outside light on. It also took a very long time to heat up.
We'd gladly come back again.

Great cabin in a great location

We (7 friends from our university days) had a fantastic weekend here in the snow, complete with a sauna. The place was perfect for our needs. Everyone had plenty of room to sleep. The kitchen was adequate, although perhaps a rolling pin for making our own pizza was missing. But everything was great, we had a wonderful time!

Vacation with friends

The log cabin is spacious and well-suited for large groups. The sleeping areas are located in the open upper floor, so closing the door for individuals who want to go to bed earlier isn't possible. However, the open design also fostered a great group experience and led to many shared activities in and around the cabin. We made extensive use of the small sauna. It comfortably accommodated four people, and six could probably fit if they enjoy snuggling up.
The kitchen equipment was adequate. Luckily, we had brought our own grater and peeler. Thanks to our capable fellow travelers, operating the wood-burning stove in the kitchen was also straightforward. The video doesn't provide specific instructions on this (open the ventilation by holding the control knob vertically and close the door when lighting the stove to prevent smoke).
Both during booking and while in the cabin itself, we were repeatedly and emphatically reminded that we absolutely had to observe the quiet hours, otherwise we would face fines. This initially deterred us somewhat, but we were able to enjoy lovely evenings on the sun deck and didn't feel restricted by the necessary consideration for others. The neighboring house is quite close, and walking on the sun deck is somewhat noisy. However, this didn't become a problem. We improvised a sunshade using tarpaulins we had brought with us, allowing us to have breakfast together on the sun deck in the mornings.
Hikes in the woods, which we started right behind the house, offered fantastic views and wonderful afternoons in nature. The dogs we brought along also felt comfortable. There are two additional beds on the ground floor of the house, which can be used as a sofa during the day and served as sleeping quarters for the dog owner at night, so the dogs couldn't get upstairs.
In summary, we had a great time, cooked and laughed a lot together, and will remember the vacation fondly. The cabin is probably not suitable for boisterous parties with music and loud laughter, as the noise can easily travel to the neighboring house, which is very close. The small extra house on the property for two more people, which was rented to other visitors during our stay, is also very close, and the visitors would probably feel disturbed by parties on the sun deck.
