The historic Vogtshof in Rottweil

Take a journey back in time. Abundant wood, old beams, antiques, and cozy tiled stoves contribute to a pleasant and warm living atmosphere. An enchanting rose garden invites you to linger.

The Vogtshof impresses with its faithfully restored interior, featuring exposed beams, timber-framed doors, and casement windows. Upstairs in the traditional farmhouse parlor, with its original wood paneling, is a large tiled stove, fired from the kitchen, which heats both the parlor and the kitchen. There is also a tiled stove on the ground floor. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, and bathrooms on both floors. Except for the old farmhouse parlor with its original plank flooring, all rooms have underfloor heating; the parlor also has radiators. In the garden, there is a sandbox and a swing for our younger guests, while adults can relax on the garden lounge.

Facilities of the Vogtshof:

Your landlords, the Schrempp/Dieterle family of seven, say about the Vogtshof: “We always loved staying at the charming Vogtshof and especially enjoyed the cozy atmosphere by the warm tiled stove in winter. In summer, the large, romantic garden with its many lovingly tended rose bushes invites you to linger. The Vogtshof was restored using traditional methods and natural materials, creating a very pleasant living environment. You can easily feel transported back 100 years, yet you have all the modern comforts. We were very reluctant to part with this unique house, so we decided to make it available as a holiday home to other people who appreciate old-world charm, and we hope you will feel just as comfortable here as we did for 18 years.”

Detailed description

Listed farmhouse & very special holiday atmosphere

The former bailiff's residence of St. Georgen Monastery is the oldest residential building in the Rottweil district of Bühlingen. A historic building for your holiday in a listed building. It was first mentioned in 1380. It is believed that the bailiff's residence, as the most important building in the village, was the first to be rebuilt after the end of the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), in which all of Bühlingen burned down. From 1983 to 1987, the house was extensively and expertly restored, so that it now comes very close to its original condition and has won the Baden-Württemberg State Monument Prize . But modern comforts are also available: all rooms, except for the original farmhouse parlor, have underfloor heating. The living room still has its original plank flooring, which is why radiators have been installed there. The living room is a true gem from a bygone era, and you will feel wonderfully transported back in time. The living room also features a wood-burning stove, which is fired from the kitchen and radiates cozy warmth in winter. Another wood-burning stove is located in one of the bedrooms on the lower floor. The Vogtshof is surrounded by a romantic garden of approximately 800 m², where the most beautiful roses bloom from spring until the first snowfall. Please see all the pictures of the holiday home here.

The location

The Vogtshof is located in the quiet Bühlingen district of Rottweil, the oldest city in Baden-Württemberg. An outdoor swimming pool, climbing hall, skate park, Aquasol water park, indoor tennis center, and tennis courts are all just 1.5 km from the house. A dog park and hiking trails begin 300 m from the Vogtshof. Numerous shopping opportunities are available within a 2 km radius. Rottweil's historic city center, with its museums, cafés, galleries, boutiques, and restaurants, is 3 km away. The Rottweil test tower is approximately 7 km away. The Vogtshof is also an ideal starting point for excursions into the Black Forest and the Swabian Alps. The open-air museums of Gutach and Neuhausen ob Eck are each about 40 km away, and Lake Constance is just under 70 km away.

Coming from the north on the A81, take exit 34 Rottweil. After the exit, turn right towards Rottweil and Tuttlingen. On the bypass, take the third exit for Sportanlagen/Bühlingen. At the intersection, go straight ahead, then after 50 meters turn left onto Oberdorf. After 200 meters, at the end of the road, Vogtshof will be on your left. Turn left onto Eckhofstraße and then immediately left again into the courtyard. Coming from the south on the A81, take the Villingen-Schwenningen exit towards Deisslingen. Follow the main road for approximately 6 km, then follow the signs.

Simply magical

December 23, 2025

Our stay in this historic building (over 800 years old) was simply magical. Old floorboards, sloping floors, low ceilings, and so much attention to detail. When Thomas (the manager) talks about the house, you can see the sparkle in his eyes, and he tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful house.

Very satisfied at the old Vogtshof

October 29, 2025

The ambiance took some getting used to at first, but by the second day we found it charmingly rustic. We particularly liked the large, old-fashioned kitchen with its modern amenities. The large round table encouraged lively conversation. Our older participants were very particular about the mattresses in the bedrooms. In retrospect, we would give them a very good rating. Since there were no disabled participants, we didn't have any major problems with the stairs or the slightly higher door thresholds. The participants, mostly aged 78-88, all remained unharmed and would return anytime.
