With his empathetic approach, artist and graphic designer Uwe Merz invites you to discover your own inner source of strength: your intuition. Everyone is creative in their own way. The most important thing is childlike curiosity and openness—to engage in the creative process without prejudice and to allow access to your own intuition. This can lead to the development of unexpected potential, inner peace, serenity, and awareness. It fosters trust in your own strength.

In intuitive painting, the point is not to painstakingly depict something "learned," but to give expression to the unconscious; originally like a child, free from constraints and limitations.

In his workshops and courses, he invites participants to shift from intellect to feeling and surrender to the intuitive process of their own creative power, in order to discover the healing and liberating effect of intuitive painting. Each participant takes their artwork (canvas on a stretcher frame, 50x40 cm) home with them.

The MERZOLIO studio is located on the Fräulinsberg hill, at 530 meters above sea level, which belongs to the municipality of Schenkenzell in the Central Black Forest/Kinzig Valley. The former barn, situated on a small plateau, is surrounded by forests and meadows with magnificent panoramic views of the Alpirsbach Sulzberg mountain.

Uwe Merz, born in 1963 in the Ruhr area, has lived in the Black Forest/Kinzig Valley since 1990. Initially, the trained graphic designer dedicated himself to classical advertising, later finding his way to expressive, intuitive painting.

The pseudonym "MERZOLIO" originated from the surname "Merz" and the initial use of oil paints ("Olio"). The artist primarily works with acrylic paints, employing various palette knife techniques. Besides the classic canvas, he has discovered aluminum composite panel (Dibond) as an interesting alternative support material.

His works reflect the artist's current state of mind and invite reflection.

In order to better support his painting courses in intuitive painting, Uwe Merz participated in the training to become a non-medical practitioner for psychotherapy in 2009-2010.

Uwe Merz paints objects in acrylic and oil on canvas, Dibond, plexiglass, or other materials. He also creates custom pieces in the customer's desired colors and size, intended for a specific room or space in their home or office.

In his studio in Schenkenzell, Rottweil district, he regularly conducts intuitive painting courses for groups or individuals, offers in-depth soul painting, and leads intuition seminars where intuitive painting is also a component. He also offers themed intuitive painting for children.

With his art "Art on Panel" (see ART ON PANEL), he has created a completely new way to combine industrial design language and segments of expressive palette knife painting techniques through digital compositing. This art form opens up almost unlimited creative possibilities.

Today he works as an artist, course and seminar leader, musician in solo and band projects, and continues to work as a graphic designer in his own advertising agency. He has also published the book "Mettgeflüster" and his poetry collection "Merzblut," and produces and reviews meditation CDs.
