Why not in the beautiful southern Black Forest, in places like Blumberg or Waldshut-Tiengen near Schaffhausen? We rent out our unique holiday homes in the northern Black Forest. And we enjoy taking trips with our family and staying in a holiday apartment. Since our children are still young—8, 6, 3, and a baby—we don't want to travel such long distances.
Finding a nice holiday apartment in the Southern Black Forest isn't easy! We recently added a holiday apartment in the Southern Black Forest to our portfolio: the Titisee holiday apartment in a secluded location near St. Märgen.
Our destination was the German side of the border with Switzerland, in the district of Dielsdorf north of Zurich – in the southern Black Forest. However, we found very few accommodations we liked on the major portals. On the websites of the towns and villages there, we found descriptions of vacation rentals. Almost everywhere, only the location and phone number were listed – along with information about the number of rooms. But what you really need is a vacation rental where the number of guests is clearly stated.
Something we repeatedly noticed during our exploratory trips: there are hardly any holiday homes in the southern part of the Black Forest that allow dogs . We find that a shame.

The fully renovated farmhouse includes a total of 2 hectares of forest and 1.8 hectares of meadow. This secluded gem is reached via a 2.4 km long forest road.

For example, a trip to the Schaffhausen Waterfalls or the Blumberg Sauschwänzlebahn (a historic railway) is worthwhile. Or visit the parish church of the Assumption of Mary in Waldkirch. The Southern Black Forest is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled holiday regions in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This area is known as the tripoint, referring to the borders of Switzerland, France, and Germany. The valleys nestle charmingly, nostalgically, and romantically alongside the vineyards and mountain ranges. Over two hundred towns and villages offer a wide variety of accommodations.
Did you know what Germany's highest low mountain range is? Over half of it is designated as a nature park. Furthermore, a national park project is currently being implemented in the Northern Black Forest. Land use is environmentally sound and sustainable, and tourism is harmoniously integrated.
