The location

Most people arrive via the Rhine Valley Autobahn (A5 Karlsruhe – Basel) and take the Offenburg exit, then drive a short distance up the Kinzig Valley. Pass Gengenbach and continue via Biberach and Zell am Harmersbach to Nordrach. The Schwarzwaldhof is located in the "Hintertal" (back valley). (Always follow the valley road through the village and towards Nordrach-"Kolonie"; immediately after a large square, before the "Maiersäge" sawmill, turn left uphill for a short distance, around the corner, and you will see the Schwarzwaldhof directly opposite.) Another very scenic route is via the "back road," the Black Forest High Road (B 500), offering magnificent views of the Black Forest valleys along the way. This route takes you through the Rench Valley (B28, Bad Peterstal-Bad Griesbach) and at the "Linde" (before Löcherberg) turn onto a small, adventurous mountain pass road. If you turn right towards "Schäfersfeld" before "Löcherberg" and think you've finally lost your way, then you're exactly right! (Once back in the valley floor (Nordrach-"Kolonie"), you'll find it quickly: after the "Maiersäge" sawmill, go up a little to the right, around the corner, and you'll see the farm directly opposite.)

Holiday at Holzhackhof

Rated 5 out of 5
October 31, 2022

We were so excited about our house. We'd seen photos beforehand, but you know how often those aren't accurate.
With this house, everything is perfect. It's a wonderful blend of old-fashioned and modern. There are so many mementos throughout, and it feels like it was lived in until just yesterday. We felt so warmly welcomed. It's a wonderful house.
We will definitely be back.

Summer toboggan run - Vogtsbauernhof

summer toboggan run Black Forest Gutach

Our daughter Lusia especially loves going here. There's a summer toboggan run where she can whiz down at 46 km/h, and at 8 years old, she's allowed to ride alone. The Vogtsbauernhöfe open-air museum is right next door.
