Sledding in the Black Forest is fantastic in winter. But did you know that sledding in summer is even more fun? By the way, it's our daughter Lusia's favorite outing! At eight years old, she's already allowed to ride down the summer toboggan run by herself, which she absolutely loves! The toboggan run is located in Gutach, right next to the Vogtsbauernhof Open-Air Museum with its beautiful historic farmhouses and Black Forest farmsteads. Adjacent to the museum is the "Park of All Senses" with its barefoot path. These three attractions can be easily combined for a day trip. Good to know: As our guest, you'll receive an exclusive voucher for the Gutach at a special price. This will help save your family money on your holiday.
A must-see destination for your holiday is the Vogtsbauernhöfe Open-Air Museum in Gutach! Gutach is just a half-hour drive from Alpirsbach in the Kinzig Valley (Loßburg 40 minutes, Seewald 60 minutes, Enzklösterle 75 minutes). This town is the home of the traditional Black Forest Bollenhut hats . Steeped in history, it lies on the Black Forest Railway, which runs from Hausach, through Gutach, Hornberg, and Triberg, all the way to Villingen. Did you know that the Black Forest Railway is a beautiful train route? We highly recommend a ride on it to any railway enthusiasts among our guests . And don't forget that travel on most trains is free with the KONUS guest card. From Alpirsbach, you can easily reach Gutach by train via Wolfach and Hausach. For the last 2 kilometers, you can change trains or take a bus, which is straightforward. The Vogtsbauernhöfe Open-Air Museum and the summer toboggan run are just an 800-meter walk away. The sensory park is 2 kilometers from the toboggan run. You can reach it by car from Seewald and Enzklösterle. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a great day in the Black Forest.

In Gutach you'll find the famous Vogtsbauernhöfe , an open-air museum where traditional Black Forest farmhouses have been authentically reconstructed. Here you can learn a great deal about life, work, and living in the Black Forest in bygone eras, and about the Black Forest people themselves. The Gutach Open-Air Museum often features demonstrations of traditional crafts or hands-on workshops where children and families are invited to try their hand at various trades. For example, there are demonstrations of basket weaving and ribbon weaving. A total of 30 different craftspeople take turns each day, so there are always several demonstrations, both inside the houses and outdoors. A few of the traditional craftspeople include straw plaiting, coopering, brush making, and the locally typical Black Forest Bollenhut (pom-pom hat) maker, Schäppel (a type of headdress) maker, and Goller (a type of embroidery). There are mill demonstrations three times a day. On Sundays, the hammer and block saw are demonstrated, and on weekends, the "black kitchen" (a traditional Black Forest kitchen) offers cooking demonstrations. The Hotzenwald House has a museum workshop, which is especially great for families because children can do crafts or, even better, make things from wood. Or would you like to learn how to make a broom yourself? Then you can do that at certain events at the Gutach Open-Air Museum under the guidance of a brush maker. You can find information about current events on the website. If you've had enough of the old farmhouses or need a break, the adventure playground invites you to let loose and have fun.
