It was completed in March 2013. The holiday villa offers exclusive architecture and a corresponding wellness area, and like most of the holiday homes we offer, it is also ideal as group accommodation for discerning clubs, families, and groups of friends. Each apartment has five double rooms for 10 people. Two of the double rooms also have sleeping lofts with additional sleeping space for 2-3 people each, so that a total of 15 people, plus additional small children, can be accommodated in the holiday home, for a total of 18 people. You can also visit the house at Gerbergasse 18 even if you haven't booked a holiday there. It's worth admiring the old half-timbered house from the outside.
The Benedictine monks planted a linden tree and built a well in front of the gate leading from the outside world into the monastery. Since then, the well has been consistently maintained and only occasionally moved a few meters. The linden tree, now approximately 100 years old, has been replaced repeatedly, as even linden trees rarely live to be 900 years old.
There are two "Schlößle" (small castles) in Alpirsbach. One is located at Ambrosius-Blarer-Platz 5. The building was constructed in 1708 by the clerk Weißer (second in command of the monastery administration and a financial officer) and is commonly referred to as a "Schlößle," but this is not the original building! It has always been privately owned by Alpirsbach citizens. The house at Ambrosius-Blarer-Platz 3 (Schillinger) is the "old monastery inn" and was built in the 15th century. In 1520, it was replaced as an inn by a new house (Haus Würth) built by Abbot Alexius. Since then, it has been used as a private residence.
The current town hall, a Renaissance building, was built in 1566 as a courthouse by Konrad Maier, administrator of the monastery's administration. The arcades were originally walled up. After a fire in 1940, they were reopened and an additional story was added to the town hall. Today, it houses the city administration.

On a guided city tour, you will see the historic buildings and their various inscriptions. Duration: approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Meeting point: at the monastery. Cost for the entire group: €40.00.
Step back in time – on a night watchman's tour through the old town of Alpirsbach. Beforehand, the historical night watchwoman – equipped with lantern and halberd – tells visitors about the life and work of the former night watchman Kaspar.
"In the villages and towns long ago, a time that seems eternally far away to us, a dark figure was seen..." It was the night watchman Kaspar, who around 1860 walked through the streets and alleys of the monastery town with his signal horn to warn and protect the citizens from fire, but also from thieves and highwaymen.
A peasant woman from around 1850, portrayed by Gretel Kommer, recounts the history and stories of that time. The meeting point for the peasant woman's guided tour is at the tower of the Leutkirche church.
During the guided tour through historic Alpirsbach, visitors learn many amazing things about the Middle Ages: how they protected themselves from infectious diseases and bewitched love, what "heavenly bread" tastes like, how people lived back then, and whom they believed and trusted.
All tours can be booked as group tours through the Tourist Information Office, Tel. +49 7444 9516-281 or stadt-info@alpirsbach.de . A contribution of €4.00 per person (minimum €60) is required. The night watchman tour is ideal for groups and clubs, as well as for Christmas parties, company events, class reunions, and family celebrations. Please reserve two weeks in advance.
