
Baiersbronn, Germany's largest village, offers not only hiking trails a superb culinary scene . The top restaurants boast a total of eight Michelin stars, distributed among three establishments. These include the Traube Tonbach – Germany's number one restaurant – and the number three, Bareiss, as well as the two-Michelin-starred Hotel Sackmann.
Baiersbronn lies in the Murg Valley and is Freudenstadt's neighboring town. It's a 5-minute drive away. It's also easily accessible by train.

This easy hike leads to the red deer enclosure, a small children's playground, and the beautifully situated Sankenbachsee lake. From there, the climb to the Sankenbach waterfall is worthwhile. The hike begins at the chairlift parking lot.
Along a 2.5 km trail, visitors of all ages can playfully explore and test the properties of wood at 16 stations. These include giant roots, a tree nursery with an integrated barefoot path, and an oversized wooden sound sculpture. Parking: Im Heubergsträssle.
This varied and scenic hike, offering numerous viewpoints, begins at the Sommerseite parking area. From here, you'll already enjoy a sensational panoramic view of the upper Murg Valley. The circular route is just over 11 km long and involves an elevation gain of 400 meters. A rest stop at the Sattelei mountain hut invites you to relax and enjoy a cozy break. There, you can experience the typical mountain hut atmosphere and savor culinary specialties. Open daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM.

In his fairy tale "The Cold Heart," Wilhelm Hauff tells us much about the lives of raftsmen, charcoal burners, glassmakers, and timber merchants. The museum has a dedicated reading area for children, equipped with fairy tale books. There is also a video station showing children's films from the Augsburg Puppet Theater. In addition, visitors can play, do crafts, and paint.

The lake is located near Obertal-Buhlbach, 5 km southwest of Obertal. It is a cirque that opens to the northwest, and its walls rise up to 120 m above the water level. A hike here is worthwhile.

The aim of the cultural park is to revive the ancient craft of glassmaking. The museum showcases a bygone era when glass and wood were defining elements of life. Visitors journey back 250 years into the history of glassmaking and the culture of woodcutters, charcoal burners, resin tappers, ash burners, and glassmakers. Refreshments are available within the park.
Opening hours are from the beginning of May to the end of October, Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A guided tour takes place at 2:00 PM on opening days. Groups and school classes are welcome by prior arrangement.

Right next to the mini-golf course, where all 10 holes were built from natural materials, children can let off steam on the adventure playground and then cool off in the outdoor swimming pool.

The chairlift is incredibly convenient. It easily takes you from the valley up to the Stöckerkopf summit at 760 meters, from where you can set off on a well-marked network of trails. Right at the valley station, you'll find the delicious Pizzeria da Guiseppe. For refreshments, the Glasmännlehütte mountain hut is a great option at the top station.

At the Black Forest Lodge, you can enjoy exciting events all year round. In summer: mountain cart rides, zorbing, e-bike rentals and guided tours, disc golf, cross boccia, stand-up paddleboarding, Segway tours and obstacle courses. In winter (November to March): snowshoe tours, torchlight hikes, mountain cart rides, and Segway tours.
