Our day group of six children aged 7 to 12 and three adults stayed at the Oberbrändi log cabin – and it was an exceptionally wonderful experience in every respect.
From the moment you arrive, you can feel the love and care that has gone into this house. The layout is well thought out, everything is very clean and well-maintained, and youreally lack nothing. Quite the opposite, in fact: we were surprised by how comprehensive the amenities are – we didn't even need to bring many things with us.
The kitchen is fully and well-equipped, making cooking together a breeze. The bathrooms are also modern, clean, and very comfortable. We would particularly like to highlight the quality of sleep: comfortable mattresses, good pillows and blankets – you can truly relax and sleep soundly.
A real highlight was the sauna in the garden. Nestled in nature, it becomes a place of peace and tranquility – a wonderful counterbalance to the action-packed days and a real bonus that elevates the stay to a whole new level.
For the children, it was a little paradise. There were already games and activities available on site, and the surroundings – nestled in the forest – invite exploration, play, and relaxation.
What truly made this stay special, however, was its impact on the children. Some of them come from situations where such experiences are not commonplace. It was all the more touching to see the joy, gratitude, and ease with which they experienced these days. For them – and for us too – it was more than just a trip. It was a true gift.
We are deeply grateful that we were able to spend this time in this wonderful house and can wholeheartedly recommend the Oberbrändi log cabin.

Our whole family stayed in the house. It was the perfect place for our family reunion (ages 3-65). There's a great playground nearby for the kids and plenty of hiking trails around the peaceful village. Unfortunately, there are no shops for bread, eggs, etc.
On the plus side, the kitchen even had a coffee machine. However, it could use a few more bowls.
We felt completely at home.

Good hikes are possible from the house, followed by a relaxing sauna; we were very satisfied.

A very nice house with everything you need to feel comfortable! The location is superb, quiet yet with amenities nearby. The sauna was the icing on the cake on cold days. Instructions for the heating system would have been helpful, as it was very warm, even at night.

We spent New Year's Eve with our family (seven people and a baby) in the Oberbrändi log cabin.
The cabin is very spacious, always nice and warm, and has excellent underfloor heating. Everything we needed was provided.
It even snowed, and you can walk directly into the forest from the cabin. It's a great base for family outings.
Shopping facilities and supermarkets are right in Loßburg, and Freudenstadt is only 15 minutes away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Oberbrändi log house was ideal for our family (7 adults, 3 children, and a dog) in terms of space. The kitchen was adequately equipped, although we would have liked a second television (either in the basement or on the upper floor). (The satellite reception was very poor – but this could also be due to the rainy weather.) The entire interior was well-maintained.There was water damage on the left exterior wall/ceiling in the basement laundry room, which should be inspected.
We found the exterior staircase particularly unusual, as it was flooded and difficult for children and the elderly to navigate.
All in all, we felt comfortable and can recommend this house to families.

A beautiful and attractive house with all amenities. We were two families (9 people), so the number of bedrooms (4) was just right. More beds are available, but then you'd be sharing a bedroom with several other people. The area is wonderful for hiking and cycling. The bakeryand supermarket are a 6-minute drive away. Other activities are a bit further, but that's not insurmountable. We will definitely come back.

The house was clean and had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were self-service and without any problems. We received all the important information in advance via email. It's suitable for up to 10 people. The entrance is via stairs, which isn't ideal for people with mobility issues. Overall, we were very satisfied. It's also well-suited for dogs, and the fields are nearby for walks. A more detailed list of what goes in which bin would be helpful.

Quiet location!

We stayed at the Oberbrändi log cabin for three days as part of a mathematics seminar at the University of Konstanz. The organization was seamless, and there was ample space for the 13 students and myself. The cabin's location is excellent; Loßburg and Freudenstadt are easily accessible, and there are beautiful hiking trails right around the house. Everyone loved the accommodation, and there were absolutely no problems. We would gladly stay there again!

Our group stayed at the Oberbrändi log cabin and felt right at home from the start. The kitchen is superbly equipped for self-catering. The three bathrooms also leave nothing to be desired for a group of up to 14 people. The only slight drawback was that the sofa and dining table could be a bit larger for our group size, but with a little creativity,this was easily remedied. The sauna was a big hit with our group, and the beds were comfortable and spacious.
We'd gladly return!

We traveled as a group of eight. The accommodation was easy to find, and check-in was contactless and straightforward. A lovely, large house with plenty of space and ample bathrooms, seating, etc.
Sauna, whirlpool tub, grill, raclette grill, fireplace, patio furniture... everything was there for a comfortable stay of a few days. The area offers fantastic walking and hiking trails.
A few minor things coulduse updating (e.g., the sofa, garden, and outdoor lighting), but otherwise, everything was to our complete satisfaction.

Everything was perfect for us...we had snow and sunshine and could relax in the sauna and in front of the fireplace. We brought our four dogs, who we could walk right from the house. It's very quiet in this small village, perfect for relaxing. The house manager was very friendly and helped easily with any problems...

Overall, it's a beautiful house in a wonderful setting; however, some cosmetic repairs and improvements are needed in various areas.
Based on our positive experience with the "Luxusschalet Salzenweiler," we decided to book another Black Forest holiday home, but we wouldn't book the "Holzhaus Oberbrändi" again.
Positive aspects:
- very beautiful location with great hiking and excursion opportunities
- good infrastructure, shops within easy reach
- good layout of the house; we were only two people, so we only used the first floor, but there's plenty of room for significantly more people
- bathrooms and refrigerator were very clean.
Negative aspects:
- the instructions for using the sauna were unclear; you have to go into the "basement" room to access the fuse box. Furthermore, the sauna was quite dirty upon our arrival, and there was mold on the interior wall. Using the sauna after dark is also not recommended, as there is no lighting and the access is not ideal. The garden and sauna offer no privacy.
- Whirlpool tub unusable as there was no remote control
- Kitchen floor was very dirty, apparently forgotten during cleaning
- The path to the front door, combined with the broken exterior lighting, is not ideal in the dark, as you can't see anything and it's easy to slip
- The upper floor (gallery) - which we didn't use - smelled terribly of food; even the fabric sofa on the "main floor" including the cushions had food odors
- The house is generally quite old and has several minor defects (the window in the WC is broken, part of the exterior lighting is broken, the toilet seat in the main bathroom is worn out, and the sofa is saggy)

The house was okay, with a few flaws: the garbage bin was very full, which was very unpleasant in 30-degree heat; some things were broken (photos available); both garden gates didn't close properly; there was a hole in the fence (we have dogs); the dishes weren't very clean; the parasol was broken, so they could invest a little in repairs. 🙂 Otherwise, everything was okay; the beds, bathroom, and furnishings were also okay.

Our holiday was wonderful and the house was simply fantastic! The furnishings are top-notch!

The wooden house is really beautiful, superbly equipped, and has everything you could possibly need. It's in a very quiet location on the edge of the village with plenty of opportunities to experience nature. There
were just a few minor issues: a very weak Wi-Fi signal in the basement, mosquitoes in the pond, no paved parking space, and some confusion with the water heater when the hot waterwasn't sufficient for 10 people to shower. The baseboards in the kitchen kept falling out. Everything is managed by a holiday home rental company, which wasn't very helpful when we reported these problems. We normally expect someone to explain everything to us personally, as is the case with other holiday homes. We only received our guest cards on the last day, apparently due to a technical problem at the responsible office, even though we sent all the required information two weeks before arrival.
Overall, the stay was lovely and relaxing, and the children had a lot of fun. Highly recommended! 🙂

...we would like to mention a few things:
- The whirlpool tub doesn't work; instead, there's a whirlpool mat that you can put in it. It's a real shame that we weren't informed about this beforehand, as the whirlpool tub was one of the reasons we chose the Oberbrändi log cabin.
- The fully automatic coffee machine shown in the photos in thedescription isn't there.
- There's a well-organized set of rules, outlining many things to be aware of (e.g., strict waste separation) and what you're not allowed to do (operating sound systems outdoors) and what you're supposed to adhere to (quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM). Unfortunately, the garbage bin in front of the house was already overflowing when we arrived; it was clear that the garbage hadn't been sorted, and we had free music from the neighbors until midnight on the very first night.
- The underfloor heating in the kitchen can't be regulated; the only solution is to switch off the fuse, otherwise it heats up all night.
- We found the remains of the previous guests in the oven.
- The oven with microwave function has its quirks, which you should be aware of beforehand. The manual was nowhere to be found.
- The rental company employee was incredibly friendly and helpful, readily assisting us despite being on vacation (his mobile number was displayed on the phone for emergencies). However, we shouldn't have called him directly, but rather contacted the landlords using the method provided in our email.
Now, we're supposed to pay for a special pan we never used—let alone saw (€38.77). Apparently, we also didn't sort the trash, for which we were charged €17.70 for 30 minutes of extra work. We sorted the trash as instructed, and seriously, how much trash can four people possibly produce in less than four days?! Oh, and apparently we left a lot of sand in the sauna, and now we're supposed to pay €11.80 for that, even though we didn't even go in the sauna and the light was still on when we arrived, which we then switched off using the light switch located outside.
We seriously wonder if anyone even cleaned the house before our arrival. In our opinion, that person shouldn't have overlooked the light and the sand in the sauna, the unsorted rubbish, the missing frying pan (and also the leftover food in the oven). We feel unfairly treated in this regard and, to put it bluntly, a bit cheated.
However, we would also like to emphasize that the Oberbrändi wooden house is a great holiday home with plenty of sleeping and relaxation options. We felt very comfortable there. The village of Oberbrändi is very quiet and charming. You can take some great excursions from there. It was a truly wonderful holiday.

We had plenty of space for two families. We lacked nothing. The only suggestion for improvement would be some nice patio furniture; the seating on the patio was unfortunately very basic (beer garden set).

A fantastic house. We loved the open-plan design. The tiled stove was wonderful. We had ordered wood, but unfortunately, it didn't include any kindling, which made it extremely difficult. The sauna was lovely and rustic, but sadly, it didn't get hotter than 80 degrees Celsius. Despite this, we would definitely book the house again.

The wooden house in Oberbrändi has a wonderful charm and boasts two lovely terraces as well as a small balcony at the very top. The village is quite sleepy; the nearest bakery or supermarket is 5 km away, which is something to keep in mind. However, the expansive meadows with their many wildflowers and waist-high grass, and the Black Forest right on your doorstep, invite you to hike and stroll. You can truly relax and enjoy pure peace and tranquility. Many leisure activities are easily accessible by car, such as the Zauberhand (Magic Hand) attraction and the observation tower in Lossburg, Freudenstadt with its fantastic hiking trails, the Kniebis mountain, and the barefoot park with mini-golf and a beach volleyball court. All of these are less than a 20-minute drive away. Glatt Castle is a bit further, but it's an absolute must-see. The cakes are not only impressive in size but also of exceptional quality. In Oberbrändi itself, there's a playground with a stunning view and a zip line that's fun for all ages. The old church is a hidden gem. The friendly neighbor with his cuddly chickens was another great bonus.
The only thing missing was comfortable seating for the patio. The battered beer garden set, even with just a side table, was barely adequate for eight people to eat breakfast and certainly didn't invite you to linger comfortably in or around the house when the weather was nice. The garden, with its play equipment for small children and the small sauna, is already full and doesn't offer any space for relaxing either. Inside, however, it was wonderful to play, both at the large dining table with its rustic corner bench and on the comfortable sofa. When the sun is shining, the surroundings are far too inviting to miss having outdoor lounge furniture for long, hence only a minor point deduction. Otherwise, simply charmingly cozy and beautiful 🙂

The house is simply fantastic and very well-equipped; you'll find everything you need. However, there were twelve of us, all adults, as it's supposed to accommodate up to 15 people, and the upper sleeping berths are only suitable for children. Also, the dining room table is definitely too small, only seatingeight. Otherwise, we were thrilled.

We, a group of seven adult women and a medium-sized dog, immediately felt at home in the cozy wooden house Oberbrändi. We appreciated its somewhat secluded location, as we were primarily interested in nature. The neighboring village of Loßburg offers excellent amenities. We particularly enjoyed Conni's cheese factory and zero-waste shop, where wecould buy fresh products (the yogurt is a must-try, among other things) and admire the calves. Afterwards, we took a walk in the woods, stopping at the Tannen-Stub for some fantastic cake. Back at the house, we got the wood-burning stove going (a slightly clearer instruction manual would be helpful, and having some firelighters on hand wouldn't hurt) and fired up the rustic outdoor sauna, which was quite easy (bring a flashlight for the walk back inside). In the evening, we enjoyed raclette (a grill was even provided) with Conni's raclette cheese in the lovely dining area, which offered the perfect amount of space for us. Afterwards, we enjoyed relaxing together on the comfortable couch and then slept soundly in the hypoallergenic bedding. The layout of the apartment was ideal for us. Even the dog settled in quickly and felt at home. The exterior should be inspected and improved, as there are gaps, for example, right at the top right of the entrance door, through which a medium-sized dog could escape. We had some difficulty with the waste disposal system, as the description on the notice board in the apartment downstairs and in the travel documents seemed different/misleading. Perhaps a clearer description directly at the waste disposal site in the basement would be helpful, but we seem to have made the right choice, as we received no negative feedback from the landlord when contacting them at any time. 🙂 The booking process with the landlord also went very smoothly.
We definitely recommend this lovely house.

The Oberbrändi log cabin is a beautiful holiday home where we spent a wonderful weekend with friends. The furnishings are cozy and create a great atmosphere. The open-plan living and dining area is especially inviting for sitting together, playing games, and chatting, and is particularly well-suited for larger groups. Check-in is incredibly easy via a lockon the terrace. The sauna is the absolute highlight of the house.
However, there were also some downsides I'd like to mention:
- the mattresses were quite remote and the pillows were very uncomfortable - some of us had back pain after waking up
- there were some cobwebs in the corners of the rooms - they could definitely be cleaned more thoroughly
- there are various hidden costs that aren't immediately apparent when booking: for example, the fireplace can only be used for a fee, bed linen and towels aren't included, and every cigarette butt in the garden costs an extra €7 to clean (unfortunately, we already found some upon arrival that weren't ours - so if you're going to do this, please be consistent or don't include such things in your house rules!)
- we were promised a later checkout at 11 am, which was subsequently cancelled
- overall, the price is quite steep... we would come back because of the house itself, but the price was simply too high for a self-catering cabin!

The wooden house in Oberbrändi was a great base for us on various hikes. Everything was wonderful. The only downside was that the pans and pots tended to stick. We would have liked at least one large, non-stick pan.

Coming from Berlin, Oberbrändi is quite a long journey. So we were pretty down upon arrival, but the accommodation cheered us up.
In short: a magnificent house, clean and fully equipped.

Seven of us moved into the holiday home and we all felt right at home from the very first day. This holiday home has everything you could need and we highly recommend it! There's still plenty of space for a larger group and it's well-equipped

Overall, the house is beautiful and well-equipped, however, the living/common area is too small for so many people… not everyone can sit at the table during meals.
The house rules are quite extensive, with restrictions such as a 10 a.m. curfew.

We will definitely come again sometime

Cozy atmosphere. Great that there was plenty of toilet paper, dish soap, and even a small supply of spices, coffee, etc.
One very small suggestion for improvement: perhaps consider replacing the dishwasher (since, despite pre-rinsing and a higher temperature, it still doesn't work).

Relaxing, rustically furnished yet very comfortable, and a cozy atmosphere is guaranteed. You won't want for anything there. Highly recommended. Perfect for relaxed barbecues or gatherings around the table

The Oberbraendi log cabin is the perfect place for families with children, as well as for small groups of travelers like ourselves. From cuddly toys, games, toasters, hair dryers, and even a dog bowl, every traveler's needs have been thought of.
