Great house, everything you need is available and extras: whirlpool and sauna, wood stove, washing machine, dryer + + what more could you want.
From the outside, the tanner's cottage presents a very authentic appearance.
Inside, it is impeccably clean and well-maintained. Keeping these rustic walls so spotlessly clean is a true art...everything was truly spotless!
Upon entering, we were greeted by a pleasant warmth, plenty of space for shoes, a view into the creatively and practically furnishedbathroom with a large whirlpool bathtub, and immediately to the left, the large and spacious bedroom...and a view of the beautiful, natural garden with its terrace. We discovered the sauna outside, a wonderful place to warm up and relax.
The steep stairs are easy to manage, just take it one step at a time.
Once at the top, the comfortably furnished kitchen invites you to prepare and cook. All necessary appliances are provided, and we didn't miss a dishwasher at all.
Next comes the dining area with plenty of comfortable space at the large table and a small storage room. The spacious living area adjoins, and the wood-burning stove is a special feature that radiates wonderful warmth. You might need to turn the heating down a bit, otherwise it gets too warm.
Upstairs, we found a very large bedroom with an integrated glass shower room – a very successful design!
There are more sleeping spaces one flight of stairs higher, but we didn't use them.
So, all in all, we were extremely satisfied with everything and wish all future guests as wonderful a time as we had.
Lovely and relaxing place to stay with a family. The house is very comfortable and has all the amenities we needed. The stairs are steep but not a problem. The town of Alpirsbach is beautiful with everything close by. There is a brewery, monastery, good walks, outdoor swimming pool, supermarkets. We would recommend staying here.
Would book again anytime.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming holiday home. A whirlpool and sauna provided a bit of pampering, there were plenty of bedrooms, and the large, well-equipped kitchen was fantastic! Provided you're reasonably mobile (the stairs in the three-story tanner's house are steep) and don't mind the occasional creaking of the floorboards, we can wholeheartedly recommend this house.
A cozy little house, perfect for the pre-Christmas atmosphere!
This old house has been tastefully renovated. It has everything you could need. It's very clean and well-maintained. We particularly appreciated the very attractive, modern bathrooms. The house is centrally located, so you can easily reach the town center, shops, and restaurants on foot. The only thing to be aware of is the very steep staircase, which even those without mobility issues should use with caution.
We had a wonderful time here with top-notch facilities in a very cozy setting. Even our four-legged guests were so thoughtfully catered for – we'll be back!
We stayed at the Historic Tanner's House with two families (a total of eight people and a dog) and felt very comfortable. The house is beautifully restored and combines historical charm with modern comfort. The location is ideal – right near the impressive monastery complex and the Alpirsbach Brewery.
We particularly enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and thecharacter of the house. It's well-suited for groups of up to eight people – it gets a bit cramped with more guests. The small parking area is also a minor drawback.
We would have liked some information about the history of the house – for example, where the tanner worked and how many people used to live there. That would have made our stay even more interesting.
Overall, though, a highly recommended place to stay in Alpirsbach!
The arrival was perfect thanks to the professional instructions. Everything was there! The house is about 250 years old. Lovingly furnished – even for the dog. We felt very, very comfortable. The sauna, the whirlpool tub, everything was great. And everything looks brand new. The house is located right in the city center on a quiet street. Soyou can easily walk everywhere to eat. Anyone who doesn't mind steep stairs will be very happy here.
Very nice accommodation. One point deducted because the stairs are very difficult for large dogs (over 30kg) to climb
The Gerberhaus is located very close to restaurants and the monastery with its brewery. Supermarkets are also within walking distance. What we liked best was the unusual decor. It's simply fun, original, and quaint. Everything you need is there, including kitchen utensils that youdon't find in most other vacation rentals, like kitchen scales and an egg cooker. The lack of a dishwasher isn't a big deal. I was disappointed with the whirlpool tub. The massage function is pleasant, but too loud to relax. The bubbles, on the other hand, are cold. However, the shower in the upstairs bedroom is an absolute highlight. What's a real shame, but typical for such an old house, are the very steep stairs. You have to be careful going down them yourself, but it's too dangerous for dogs and small children. Our dog is small, so we always carried him. You should read the description carefully, as the living area is on the first floor and the bedroom with the shower is on the second floor, so you'll often have to climb the stairs. Parking a large car there might be difficult, as the spaces are very narrow. Otherwise, there are no other parking options on this street.
We stayed for a few days with our dog in this lovely house right in the old town. Due to its construction, some of the hallways are narrow and the stairs are steep, but that's part of what makes this house special. It's beautifully renovated and really had everything we needed. We especially appreciated that they even provided bowls, a dog bed, and poop bags 😃
It's a great area for hiking, and there are restaurants just around the corner. Our 35 kg dog managed the stairs, but it's something to be aware of.
We highly recommend this accommodation 😄
The Gerberhaus is cozy and warm, and lacks nothing in terms of amenities. The only challenge is the extremely steep staircase, which is difficult for older people and dogs to manage.
Cozy, everything you need is there.
Be sure to visit the brewery and monastery.
Many beautiful hikes.
A beautiful holiday home with historical significance and excellent amenities that satisfy every need.
We have never stayed in such a well-equipped holiday home before.
The house has a lovely atmosphere and exudes coziness with many thoughtful details in its furnishings and decor.
The Gerberhaus offers everything you need for a comfortable holiday. We felt very much at home.
A beautiful house with great attention to detail.
It allows you to truly escape from everyday life.
The accommodation offers everything you need for a comfortable stay and is very centrally located,
meaning everything is within walking distance.
The holiday home is incredibly cozy. The beds are comfortable, everything is very clean – a truly lovely holiday home. However, the stairs are very steep and the floorboards creak. It's impossible to sneak up on anyone, as every step is noisy. I would advise against booking for eight people, as there is no dishwasher. The sleeping accommodations in the attic are only accessible via a staircase requiring some skill. It's unsuitable for small children. But this is mentioned in the description. There were three of us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food at the Rössle hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious!
We had wonderful, relaxing days in the cozy tanner's house with a fireplace and sauna.
Simply lovely!
A really lovely little house. We felt very comfortable there with our three dogs. It has everything you need.
A very nice holiday home with attention to detail, highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time here. We were able to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life. The house is centrally located, making everything easily accessible. Booking was straightforward...
I would love to come back again.
Thank you!
Beautifully renovated and furnished, although a bit smaller than expected. The stairs are a challenge ;-P Definitely recommended!
We really enjoyed the short vacation. The tanner's house is very cozy and made up for the persistent rain.
A wonderful, charming holiday home!
We had a wonderful time at the Gerberhaus. The holiday home is furnished with great attention to detail, lacking nothing, and everything is perfectly coordinated. We immediately ate the Spätzle that were waiting for us on the table upon arrival. The sauna is small but functional, and the two of us were able to use it comfortably. The surrounding area is beautiful, and weenjoyed several hikes and bike rides in the vicinity. Highly recommended!
We'll be jack to visit Bavaria and Berlin
Great place to stay! Very cozy home. The stairs were a little hard for my father in law, 76 year old with two knee surgeries but he made it work. The location was amazing and the kitchen had all the things to make yourself at home. We loved the sauna! The gate for the stairs was great since we also had a two year old. It would have been nice to have the recycling directions in English but we were able to do it. Also, an email the day of arrival with instructions on how to get in would be helpful. Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us!
The lovingly restored apartment is very comfortable. It is fully equipped. The ground floor is a bit dark, and the living area could use a bit more color – especially the sofas. The stairs require a certain level of mobility for those using them.
A lovely, charming holiday home right in the heart of Alpirsbach. Here, antique charm blends seamlessly with modern comforts. Steep stairs connect the floors, so it's best suited for those who are reasonably fit. A very peaceful location with the Kinzig River flowing gently when the windows are open.
The surrounding area is fantastic for hiking!
The sauna offers relaxation for tired muscles.
We'd love to come back again!
This old house exudes a special charm.
Due to steep and narrow stairs with limited headroom, it is not recommended for people with mobility impairments.
For everyone else, it's a unique experience, especially for families with children.
It was a wonderful weekend. We wanted to relax, hike, enjoy good food and drink, and spend evenings together playing cards or board games.
Alpirsbach offers all of this. The Gerberhaus has an ideal location: very central, yet without any traffic noise. In fact, you don't need a car in town at all, as the bakery, butcher, and three supermarkets are all within easy walking distance. Variousrestaurants are also nearby, and with the excellent beer brewed at the local brewery, walking is definitely worthwhile.
The Gerberhaus was something quite different, and we really enjoyed it. The blend of old and new is truly well done. The kitchen is well-equipped and adequate. The beds are comfortable. Even bowls were provided for our dog.
Quaint atmosphere, great flair. Very cozy vacation home. However, the stairs are steep and the steps are narrow. You should be reasonably fit, as your whole foot doesn't fit on each step when going down.
Good slippers are recommended, otherwise your feet will get cold quite quickly.
Otherwise, a very nice vacation home with a sauna, whirlpool, and terrace. 👍
The historic tanner's house lives up to its name. With creaking floorboards and steep stairs, you'll spend a wonderful time in this lovingly restored house. A wood-burning stove, sauna, and whirlpool bathtub provide the perfect setting for a truly cozy stay.
A wonderful, cozy, old tanner's house that leaves nothing to be desired. Sauna, wellness shower, great big bathtub. Nothing is missing; we stayed there for 5 nights as a couple. We'll definitely come back to the warm fireplace in the living room.
The Gerberhaus and its furnishings exceeded all our expectations. The historic half-timbered house is charmingly decorated with great attention to detail, offering comfortable beds and seating areas, as well as many unusual, handcrafted pieces of furniture. The sauna and wood-burning stove were wonderful ways to relax after our hikes on cold days. The kitchen is perfectly equipped, allowing forcomplete self-catering,
for larger groups. There were even two bowls provided for our dog. A small note for dog owners: the steep stairs (especially to the attic) were a bit difficult for our dog to descend, so we preferred to carry him each time. This could be problematic for larger dogs.
Any suggestions for improvement? Yes, but only minor things: we were unfortunately unable to get truly hot water from the tap in the ground-floor bathtub. Perhaps this could be fixed.
Thank you for a wonderful time in the Black Forest.
We had a wonderful stay as a girls' trip. The Gerberhaus is very cozy, superbly equipped, and clean. It's centrally located. We didn't need a car for four days.
We spent two wonderful autumn weeks at the Gerberhaus in the small Black Forest town of Alpirsbach. The cottage is in a very quiet location, yet shops, restaurants, and inns are just a few minutes' walk away. There's even a small, cozy art-house cinema in the former refectory of the monastery, showing a selection of films. The surrounding forests with their diverse network of hiking trails are also easily accessible.
The cottageitself offers everything you need for a carefree holiday in a very personal and welcoming atmosphere. We and our two dogs also felt very welcome.
Cozy and spacious
We enjoyed a relaxing holiday in this well-maintained and well-equipped house with a sauna and whirlpool. The great restaurants, delicious beer, and the friendly people of Alpirsbach will remain in our memories.
We visited as a group of friends and had a wonderful time at the Gerberhaus. The mix of rustic charm and modern amenities makes it a truly special place to stay. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking, and the nearby brewery is also highly recommended.
We really enjoyed the charming house. Ideal for hiking and relaxing.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the Gerberhäuschen for five days and were absolutely delighted. The cozy and inviting decor made us feel right at home, and the manager was incredibly kind. Alpirsbach is a lovely little town with friendly people and excellent restaurants. The pastries from the small bakery a few doors down were especially delicious; they still make their own dough and pride themselves on friendly service! That was, of course, a tip from the lovely manager!
Overall, we were extremely satisfied and can wholeheartedly recommend both the Gerberhäuschen and Alpirsbach.
The house has been lovingly renovated and is wonderfully equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for a wonderful time in this fantastic holiday home. It was impressive to stay within these old walls. In some places, original building components are likely visible (the house dates back to 1783), and the furniture and small wooden details are custom-made and coordinated for the house. The furnishings are clean, and the amenities (TV, kitchenwith refrigerator and freezer, Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, etc.) are modern. The whirlpool and sauna add a touch of spa-like comfort, which is further enhanced by the gentle murmur of the small stream bordering the garden.
We enjoyed a lovely stay in an exceptional and welcoming accommodation.
The description is spot on. The sauna and whirlpool are definitely a highlight.
This is a great place to relax. A fantastic location – free from light pollution, with excellent food, great beer, and top-notch accommodation. Great facilities and well-maintained!
We can recommend it 100%.
Centrally located and well-equipped. Something different!
The sauna and fireplace make the stay perfect for relaxing after a hike. The stairs are quite steep, so be aware of that. A bakery and good restaurants are within walking distance. You can start hiking right from the house, so you don't always need the car. We really enjoyed our stay!
The Gerberhaus is beautifully furnished: old floorboards, new wooden furniture, carved ceiling decorations, and modern bathrooms. The kitchen is also superbly equipped, and the wood-burning stove adds to the cozy atmosphere. It was wonderful to use the sauna in the evenings after hiking and then relax on the terrace with the sound of the stream. We'd love to come back!
Our stay at the Gerberhaus was a wonderful experience. The small but very cozy house was furnished with great attention to detail, and even bowls and a blanket were provided for our dog. The arrangements were excellent, and communication with the property manager was flawless – she responded quickly, was very friendly, and helpful.
We had a wonderful family weekend at the Gerberhaus and felt completely at home. It's idyllically situated in Alpirsbach's old town, with its shops and numerous restaurants nearby. There are fantastic opportunities for day hikes right from the house. We highly recommend the Gerberhaus to families, even those with very young children!
We had three wonderful days at the Gerberhaus and finally, after all the deprivations of the lockdown, a change of scenery. Our three small children also loved the old half-timbered house.
Great! Highly recommended. The only thing is, the TV channels could use some organizing.
Unfortunately, we couldn't go on our holiday because of Corona! :( But Mr. Roth answered my many questions very well and helpfully. I hope we can make up for our relaxing holiday at the Gerberhaus at another time.
The Gerberhaus is truly enchanting. Small, quirky, and wonderfully rustic, you immediately feel at home. Yet it doesn't lack modern comforts: the kitchen is fully equipped, the bathrooms are state-of-the-art, and the master bedroom with its four-poster bed and open shower in the en-suite bathroom is an absolute highlight. In cold weather, the wood-burning stove invites youto cozy up in the living room, or you can warm up in the sauna and then listen to the Kinzig River rushing by right behind the house. The location is also fantastic. Within just a few hundred meters, you'll find numerous restaurants and the historic center of Alpirsbach. All in all, a very beautiful house – we felt very comfortable there.
A beautifully preserved and well-maintained little house. It has everything you need. It's quiet yet close to the town center. Shopping and hiking are easily accessible without a car. There are also several restaurants, cafes, and bakeries nearby.
Would gladly stay again.
We had a very nice time 🙂
Very relaxing
Very nice accommodation, super convenient if you're having a party next door. Several bedrooms to spread out in and several bathrooms. Booking was straightforward and they responded quickly. Clean and in a beautiful setting.
A lovely, quiet cottage situated on the Kinzig River in the heart of Alpirsbach. The building has been lovingly renovated. The two steep staircases take some getting used to. It's a bit of a shame that the terrace doesn't offer an unobstructed view, but on the other hand, it's also very private.
We enjoyed our stay very much; many things were within walking distance, and the surrounding area also offered many opportunities. The accommodation was impeccable and we liked it very much.
see above
We really enjoyed the holiday home. It's stylishly furnished. The kitchen is very well organized. We missed having more storage space and some hooks in the bathrooms. A grab bar in the shower would be helpful for older guests. The pillows definitely need replacing. The grounds around the house are well-maintained.
A very cozy house with a beautiful garden

A beautifully furnished house with everything you need to feel comfortable. - Simone
The accommodations were perfectly adequate for a week-long holiday with four adults. The tastefully furnished apartment combines nostalgic charm with modern amenities. There was ample space for the dog and plenty of room to retreat to even in bad weather. The tips for activities in the surrounding area were numerous and easy to follow.
A very nice holiday apartment. Friendly hosts and a pretty little town. We'd love to come back!
Fantastic, spacious holiday home in a quiet location. Beautiful garden with a playground for toddlers. Well-equipped kitchen. Every room is spotlessly clean.
Everything was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our short break with six adults and eight children. We especially loved the garden and the charcoal grill

Everything was great, would gladly come again.
Family time
The house is beautiful and fully equipped. The charm of the old walls and beams is still preserved thanks to the modern additions and restorations. The sauna and whirlpool make the Gerberhaus a little wellness oasis in Alpirsbach.
The house creaks occasionally at night, but that's part of its charm, just like the small stairs (which weren't a problem for us) to the next floor.
Great location, lovely little garden, feel-good atmosphere, and charm. We loved it all and will definitely be back.
A wonderful short break in a beautiful place.
A wonderful, quiet and well-maintained retreat
This was our third stay in this holiday apartment. Its design is unusual and beautiful, exactly the kind of holiday apartment we were looking for. We will definitely be back.
Quaint and lovingly furnished
A very beautiful apartment. Renovated with great attention to detail.
The view is absolutely enchanting and the location is excellent.
Quiet. Modern. Comfortable.
Thank you so much!!

We received a very warm welcome, and the Vogtshof also offers ample space for a multi-generational group. The facilities are excellent; everything you need is provided.
Beautiful winter hiking holiday
We fell in love with the Gerberhaus the moment we stepped inside. After a tour of the little house, this feeling only intensified.
The attention to detail, the absolute coziness, the fireplace – everything was just perfect. The Kinzig River flowing behind the house even gave us a bit of a seaside feel at times 😉
We highly recommend the Gerberhaus.
We didn't want to leave at all. We immediately felt incredibly comfortable
A beautifully and luxuriously renovated, well-equipped holiday apartment in the old town of Dornstetten with a lovely view of the Black Forest
"Interesting" sums it up perfectly. This historic accommodation has been lovingly restored and offers everything you need. However, if creaky floorboards and steep stairs bother you, you should look elsewhere. We were informed about the steep stairs when we inquired, but we still decided to stay. Which was perfectly fine! The door lock requires a bit of finesse 🙂 you don't see that kind of thing anymore. We had a truly wonderful stay, and this accommodation was a real experience.
Thank you so much for this opportunity!
The only drawback during our week was an overflowing garbage bin. But that wasn't really a big deal; after all, you have that at home now and then too. We hope it didn't cause any inconvenience.
We were completely satisfied and would choose this accommodation again.
However, the linen package at €12 per person is relatively expensive. Therefore, especially for shorter stays, it is advisable to bring your own bed linen and towels.
Overall, we really enjoyed it!
The mattresses in the upper sleeping area were quite firm.
The bathroom downstairs was difficult to heat, which is a problem because that's where the bathtub is located.
Otherwise, we were very satisfied; it's simply something different.
The house had everything as described.
We felt very comfortable.
We enjoyed it very much.
We had three wonderful days in the old tanner's house. This small, old house in the heart of the charming village center is the perfect place for a relaxing girls' weekend: a sauna in the garden, a fireplace in the living room, lots of cozy nooks and crannies for relaxing together, and everything you could possibly need.
Thank you so much for the lovely time!
The historic tanner's house is very charmingly furnished. It offers easy access to shops, restaurants, and the train station, from which you can take free train rides and then return to Alpirsbach via hiking trails.
A very tastefully and high-quality furnished apartment with great attention to detail. The amenities were also
high-quality and excellent; everything was provided. Quiet and convenient location, close to the city center. Friendly, very nice landlords.
We felt very comfortable there.
Wonderful holiday home in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A small note for dog owners: the stairs in the house are very steep, and we always had to carry our dog.

We spent 7 wonderful days in the Black Forest with our children.
The house lives up to its promises on the website and in the photos.
Highly recommended!
Knowing the year the house was built, we arrived and were absolutely delighted by how lovingly and comfortably it was furnished. Everything you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation was there in terms of furniture and kitchenware. Especially..
We spent some very nice days in the holiday home near Rottweil. The area is perfect for hiking, the holiday home was very nicely located and equipped, and the fenced garden was also well suited for our dog.
The house was spotlessly clean! It had everything you could need. The wood-burning stove took some getting used to, but we were fine after a day. The downstairs room could be a bit more inviting. The wardrobe is too small for two people. The shower was unfortunately not
First, a big compliment regarding the cleanliness and the furnishings in the house.
The middle floor is very cozy with a kitchen, dining room, and living room. We slept perfectly upstairs. Very nicely designed.
Now, unfortunately, a few negative points.
It was a wonderful experience to stay overnight in such a house! I felt very comfortable.
We liked it very much
Have a good week of vacation
Beautiful house in a less than beautiful setting. With temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, sleeping under the roof without window coverings and spending time on the terrace without sun protection was practically impossible.
We were a group of six, including an infant, staying at the Gerberhaus and were delighted by the many historical traces found in the listed building. It is precisely the crooked corners and angles that give the accommodation its unique charm, even by today's standards
Good
The holiday home is exceptionally cozy. The furnishings are unique and very comfortable. The pellet stove and the wood-burning stove kept us comfortably warm at all times. The sauna is great. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use the lovely garden
Everything was really great; spotlessly clean; plenty of space for the six of us; I would recommend it immediately...
Why only 4 stars overall? The check-in/out times were a bit inconvenient for a weekend visit, but nevertheless...
The holiday home in Dornstetten is a great place and has lovely amenities. I can recommend it without reservation.
An ideal holiday destination for nature lovers seeking peace and quiet. Beautiful hiking area, sunny location, very relaxing.
Very good. Everything was great.
The whole setting is simply amazing: wood, stone and snow!!!
Somehow I hadn't noticed that there's no central heating. Heating is provided by a pellet stove, a fireplace, and, if necessary, electric radiators. Initially, I was surprised, but I quickly recognized the charm this created and the
Very quaint and incredibly cozy
A cozy, inspiring atmosphere. Excellent management and service.
Centrally located yet quiet, with an undoubtedly special ambiance.
We felt very comfortable at the Gerberhäusle; it truly had a very special atmosphere, simply beautiful!
It was also wonderful that Mrs. Wolf took such good care of us when the fire wouldn't light properly or the coffee machine wasn't working.
The location in the village is very good, the house is ideal as a starting point for excursions in the surrounding area, only the
terrace/garden area needs a little
improvement (the tarpaulin on the roof isn't ideal, the plants need trimming).
We enjoyed our stay there, also...
The Kaspershäusle is highly recommended for stressed people; it's nice and quiet, also suitable for families with children or dogs.
It's a bit of a shame there are no hiking maps or restaurants; this could be improved by providing such things
.
Great house, very good location, ideally suited for our group of 12 friends.
We immediately felt at home in the tanner's cottage and had a wonderful time there.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates unique accommodations.
The atmosphere in this charming and rustic cottage is simply ideal for a relaxing holiday. A well-equipped kitchen invites you to cook, the beds are large and comfortable, and the living room is cozy. Free Wi-Fi ensures you stay connected even when..
Thank you so much for everything, it was all great.
A very nice, cozy house and a very friendly manager
Cozy and lovingly furnished.
Great holiday home 🙂
For us it was perfect to escape the Christmas hustle and bustle and enjoy a few days off.
We can highly recommend this house; it's something special.
We felt very comfortable. Highly recommended.
Overall very friendly. Beautiful house.
We immediately felt at home. It was lovely.

Everything is very beautiful and done with great attention to detail.

Very nice contact, we will definitely recommend you.
It was very good.
A beautiful, special house.
Beautiful house, we would gladly recommend it.
The house was very clean.
Thank you for everything.
We will recommend you. Happy Easter.

Very nice atmosphere.
Cleaner than many hotels. We'd gladly come again.
