Leisure and gastronomy in Freudenstadt in the Black Forest

Freudenstadt - Pure relaxation in the heights of the Black Forest

At the end of the Black Forest High Road, at an altitude of 730 meters, lies the spa town of Belvilla, nestled in the heart of the Northern Black Forest. Here, you can enjoy your leisure time. The district capital, with its 24,000 inhabitants, was founded in 1599 by Duke Frederick I and is particularly famous for having the largest market square of any German city. The town, laid out like a game of Nine Men's Morris, was destroyed at the end of World War II but was subsequently rebuilt true to the original design. The typical arcades of the market halls invite you to stroll, while the 350-hectare nature park forest to the south of the town delights hikers. The spa and congress center forms the heart of the town. Water lovers will find plenty to enjoy at the Panorama Bath. And after hours on your feet, you'll be glad to return to your comfortable accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day cooking, playing games, or taking a relaxing bath. Further information about individual accommodations in the Black Forest can be found on the website www.belvilla.de.

The surroundings are magnificent.

Thanks to its central location, Freudenstadt is the ideal starting point for excursions of any length in the surrounding area. To the west, our neighbor France awaits, whose Alsace region delights even the most discerning gourmets. Places like Strasbourg and Colmar, the Odilienburg Castle, and the Smurf Museum offer something for everyone. The Saint Louis-Arzviller boat lift, the Hoh Königsburg castle, and the Eco Museum in Ungersheim have already captivated countless visitors. To the south, Lake Constance beckons, and the Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen and Mainau Island are fantastic day trip options. To the north lie Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, and Speyer, all places well worth a longer stay. And Basel, Switzerland, is also within easy reach; Switzerland is always worth a visit.

The local cuisine certainly doesn't need to hide behind its international counterparts, as the cuisine in the south of our homeland is gaining an ever-growing number of loyal fans. Skilled restaurateurs have transformed the Black Forest into a gourmet destination that can stand up to any comparison. The infrastructure of the small district town is equally impressive, and a shopping trip here is always appealing. Even the golfers among the spa guests indulge in their hobby; the golf club, founded many years ago, offers sport amidst stunning natural surroundings.
