Loßburg-Rodt lies at an altitude of 680 meters. The municipality has approximately 7,000 inhabitants.
The Kinzig River originates in the Loßburg Forest. From here, loggers once transported fir trees downriver to Rotterdam, before the Kinzig Valley Railway took over this task in 1893. Our ancestors were woodcutters and craftsmen and ran small farms.
The surrounding forest is a source of energy for those seeking peace and relaxation. Beautiful, well-marked hiking and cycling trails, some flat and others with only gentle inclines, lead into the green forest oasis or to the nearest village or farmstead. These hikes are not comparable to mountain hut tours in the Alps, but rather to leisurely strolls to enjoy the fresh air and unwind.
The "Lossburg Mile" village tour is ideal for an exploratory stroll. Information panels along the way describe historical events. Further themed walks are offered by the art trail and the forest nature trail. The village museum is very well organized and divided into sections on professions and historical periods. In just one hour, you can learn about Loßburg and its surroundings from Merovingian times to the present day.
The museum displays objects from the former "Wilhelm Wendel shoemaker's workshop", which today houses the kitchen and living room of the holiday apartment next door, at Schloßgässle 1.
On a rainy day, a stroll under the arcades around Freudenstadt's market square is highly recommended. Freudenstadt is only 6 km from Loßburg and boasts the largest market square in Germany. You can leave your umbrella at home.
