Hausach is located near Gutach, making it a bit closer to home and easily accessible by train from Loßburg and Alpirsbach. Hausach lies below Husen Castle, dating back to the 13th century. The most scenic section of the Black Forest Railway begins here, and we highly recommend this beautiful stretch of mountain railway through the Black Forest to anyone who enjoys train travel. Especially since this is free for KONUS cardholders as our guests.

Get information, suggestions and tips for your next vacation in the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a great holiday destination at any time of the year. Enjoy the special facilities with sauna, whirlpool, fireplace and more in our dream holiday apartments and holiday homes.
From Hausach, the holiday homes in Alpirsbach are a good option, as are the great holiday apartments in Schonach.
Discover exclusive holiday homes on the Dieboldsberg or the wellness holiday home in Fronwald. Both accommodations are ideal as a retreat for your family holiday or as a holiday home for up to 15 people.

The Black Forest Railway also exists as a model railway. On 400 square meters, you can see how steeply and windingly the Black Forest Railway climbs the mountainside. The exhibition is located directly opposite the train station.

The Black Forest Railway is the only double-track mountain railway operated by Deutsche Bahn AG. It holds a unique position due to its numerous tunnels and is considered the most scenic low mountain railway in Europe. It has been running from Karlsruhe to Konstanz since 1873. The core section of the line, between Hornberg and St. Georgen, covers an altitude difference of 448 meters over a distance of 11 kilometers as the crow flies and winds through 36 tunnels.
Our tip is to take the train from Hausach to Villingen, depending on your holiday home. This way, after a pleasant 45-60 minute train ride, you'll have plenty of time to spend in Villingen, a beautiful Black Forest town. We'll be sending you more information about Villingen as a special bonus in an upcoming email.
Perfect for our kids! They can run around, climb, and scramble to their heart's content. The 3 km long adventure trail is a children's activity path through the forest. There are 20 activity and nature stations built along the way, where you can climb into a treehouse or build a dam, among other things.
The route leads over the Kreuzberg hill, past the 800-year-old Husen castle ruins. From there, there's a fantastic view of the city and the Kinzig valley. Everything is on offer, from a palisade walk to an earth tunnel, an Indian ladder, water features by the stream, a treehouse, the colorful snake, and the pinecone catapult.
Directions: You can park at the Kneipp water-treading facility, or it's a 20-minute walk from the town center. There's no entrance fee for the adventure trail. The trail leads past the water reservoir on the left, continuing to a barbecue hut for a break. A wide path leads to the "Sägebeckweg" or "Kreuz" sign. A short climb takes you down to the castle and back to the Kneipp water-treading facility. The path is not suitable for strollers.
Did you know that there are more than 60 mines, tunnels, and shafts in this corner of the Kinzig Valley? Silver and lead were once mined here. This small open-air museum complements the visitor mines in the neighboring towns of Haslach-Schnellingen and Oberwolfach. It was built by the Dorfer Erzbrüder, an association dedicated to preserving mining history. The museum demonstrates how difficult it used to be to process the extracted ore. On display are a stamp mill, a large smelting furnace, an ore washing plant, and a blacksmith's shop. The 10-kilometer-long mining trail, with its many interesting facts about mining, is well worth a hike.
Directions: From the roundabout at the western entrance to Hausach, the museum is signposted. The grounds are open to the public. Guided tours can be booked by contacting Helmut Meyerhöfer, Tel. +497831/1455.
Prices: Adults €3.00, groups of 10 or more €2.50, concessions €2.00. Admission is only charged for guided tours.
