We enjoyed it very much, and so did our dogs.
We'd love to come back.

A comfortably furnished house with a large shower and separate toilets on each floor. The kitchen is very well-equipped. Although the house is located on a main road, the traffic was barely noticeable.

Plenty of space, very clean, well-equipped. Would also be suitable for trips with small children/babies.

Beautiful historic building, secluded yet close to the city

The Bärenschlössle (Little Bear Castle) is wonderfully situated in Christophstal, on the edge of the forest – next to a deer enclosure – surrounded by meadows. Yet it's only about a 10-minute walk to Freudenstadt's market square. However, this footpath involves a steep – very beautiful – staircase uphill; we enjoyed the climb, but our children were harder to persuade. Around the castle, at some distance, there are a few isolated buildings and small groups of houses, but no shops and only one – very good – restaurant (with somewhat eccentric opening hours).

The castle is superbly equipped. We were a group of nine and had everything we needed. The kitchen and bathrooms are newly renovated and fully equipped, and there's a separate laundry room for families. The living room boasts the largest sofa we've ever seen. The internet works perfectly on the main living floor, but the signal is sometimes a bit weak on the upper bedroom floor.

It's worth noting that the beds are a bit short and have end boards at the foot: this might be rather annoying for tall people. Also, keep in mind that there are hardly any dish towels, sponges, cleaning cloths, etc. This means you have to buy everything if you want to use the kitchen. For a holiday apartment in this price range, this could/should be included. Finally, next to the main building is an "event barn" that is occasionally used for weddings and similar events. This didn't bother us, but those more sensitive to noise might be affected – or you could simply rent the small castle as well for wedding guests.

A very nice place to stay. A very beautiful area. We also really liked the town of Dornstetten itself. Many leisure activities are available! There's an elevator in the building, which makes things much easier. The hosts and staff are friendly and accommodating. Dogs are also welcome. Looking back, we had a wonderful holiday there! We'll definitely spend some time there again!
