See Hausach im Kinzigtal & Schwarzwaldbahn travel tips and more

    Directions

Hausach is in the neighborhood of Gutach and the journey is therefore somewhat shorter and can also be easily reached by train from Loßburg and Alpirsbach. Hausach lies below Husen Castle from the 13th century. The most beautiful section of the Black Forest Railway begins here and if you like traveling by train, we recommend taking the most beautiful section of the mountain railway through the Black Forest. Especially since this is free for Konus cardholders as our guests.

    Black Forest Railway

The Great Black Forest Railway is DB AG's only double-track mountain railway. It has a unique position because of the many tunnels on the route and is considered the most beautiful low mountain railway in Europe. It has been running from Karlsruhe to Konstanz since 1873. The core of the railway between Hornberg and St. Georgen overcomes a height difference of 448 m over 11 km as the crow flies and runs through 36 tunnels in loops.

Our tip, depending on your holiday home, is to take the train from Hausach to Villingen. So after a lovely 45-60 minute train ride you still have plenty of time to spend in Villingen, a beautiful Black Forest town. We will write more information about Villingen in one of our email information as a special bonus soon.

    Hausach adventure trail

Just the right thing for our kids. Romp, do gymnastics and climb like you have fun. The 3 km long adventure trail = children's hands-on path through the forest. There are 20 exercise and nature stations built here, including climbing a tree house or building a dam.

The route goes over the Kreuzberg past the 800-year-old Husen castle ruins. There is a great view of the city and the Kinzigtal from there. From a palisade run to an earth tunnel, an Indian ladder, water features on the stream, a tree house and the colorful snake and the cone spinner, everything is on offer.

How to get there: You can park at the water treadmill or you can walk there in 20 minutes from the city center. There is no entry fee for the adventure trail. The adventure path leads past the water tank on the left and continues to a barbecue hut for a break. Follow a wide path to the sign “Sägebeckweg” or “Kreuz”. You go down to the castle over a small "hill" and back to the water treading area. The path is not suitable for strollers.

    “Erzpoche” open-air mining museum

Did you know that there are more than 60 pits, tunnels and shafts in this corner of the Kinzig Valley? Silver and lead used to be searched for there. This small open-air museum can be seen as a complement to the visitor mines in the neighboring towns of Haslach-Schnellingen and Oberwolfach. It was built by the Dorfer Erzbrüder, an association for the preservation of mining history. It shows how difficult it used to be to further process the mined ore. A poche, a large smelting furnace, the ore washing facility and the forge are shown. The 10 km long mining educational trail, with lots of interesting information about mining, is worth a hike.

Directions: The museum is signposted from the roundabout at the entrance to Hausach West. The area is freely accessible. Tours can be booked with Helmut Meyerhöfer, Tel. +497831/1455.

Prices: Adults €3.00, groups of 10 or more €2.50, reduced €2.00. Admission is only required for guided tours.
