To reach the starting point of our tour, we drive from Alpirsbach towards Schiltach and turn left after the tunnel towards Schramberg. When we arrive in Schramberg, we turn right after the bft gas station and park our car after about a 15-minute drive directly on the Schiltach near the Cafebar Majolika.

Once our backpack is packed and our shoes are tied tightly, we follow the Schiltach in the opposite direction and cross it after an underpass. Behind the St. Mariakirche, somewhat hidden, we find a staircase with the signpost to Hohenschramberg . We quickly gain altitude along this path, which leads us through a nature reserve, and soon the first view of Schramberg opens up through the densely grown trees. We follow the signs in the direction of Hohenschramberg until we reach a viewing bungalow after about 20 minutes. After a short break, the path leads us moderately steeply past huge red sandstone walls until we reach the Hohenschramberg castle complex directly below the Burgstüble restaurant (good home-style Swabian cuisine, especially the sausage salad is highly recommended).

Past the still very well preserved bastion, a magnificent view of the entire city awaits us. After we have enjoyed the view, the further path leads us opposite the Burgstüble, which is by the way the only opportunity to stop off on our hiking trail, towards Felsenmeer . A descending path, which is densely surrounded by coniferous trees and colorful flora , leads us onto a well-developed forest path, which we follow descending. After about 200m we make a 180° turn onto a seemingly little-used meadow path , which after a while turns into a hiking trail . We thus reach the so-called Felsenmeer and it becomes clear to us why the Felsenmeer definitely deserves its name. Steeper descending passages are mitigated by artificially created stairs.

We follow the path towards Lauterbach Waterfalls , which we reach after another 15 minutes.

We cross a bridge to reach the connecting road leading towards Lauterbach. We cross this and follow an ascending forest path for about 200m until we take a detour on the right to perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the Black Forest. An oasis of peace that is second to none. Located directly on a stream and covered in dense moss, this oasis of peace invites us to relax and it becomes clear to us why a holiday in the Black Forest is so often an unforgettable experience.

Directly opposite on the other side of the forest path , a narrow footpath (be careful, easy to miss) leads us towards Töswald. After about 10 minutes, the path, which is now overgrown with thick grass, forks. We keep to the right and thus maintain the height until the forest clears and we have a fantastic view of the Hohenschramberg ruins behind us on the left.

A short time later the overgrown path turns into a well-developed forest path. Continuing to follow the signs towards Falkenstein ruins , the path leads us to a small junction where we leave the path on the left. castle ruins, not far away, with the waving flag of the Falkensteiners. A partially steeply sloping path leads us to an idyllic wooden bridge until, in another 10 minutes, we reach the very well-kept Falkenstein castle ruins, which date back to the 11th century.

Various information boards inform visitors about the historical history of the castle. A furnished castle room (can be illuminated at night) brings us a little closer to castle life. Through narrow corridors within the ruins you reach a viewing area from which you can view Schramberg from a different perspective. The view of the directly adjacent climbing rocks is also enough.

Back to the bridge and continuing downwards, the path takes us through a sawmill directly along the Schiltach to the “Holy Spirit Church” built in 1914. After strolling through Schramberg's lively pedestrian zone, we continue following the Schiltach and after a total of around 3 hours we return to the starting point of our hike.
