Whether you're a group or a family, a trip to Feldberg with friends in summer or winter is a fantastic experience in the Black Forest. Here you'll find great vacation apartments and houses in the Black Forest. For example, this luxury vacation home is located in the village of Feldberg. It can accommodate up to 20 adults and small children and offers all sorts of amenities.

It is Germany's highest mountain outside the Alps and the highest in Baden-Württemberg; its summit lies 1493 meters above sea level.
It's not just a hill in the landscape; it shapes the landscape and even bears a municipality named after it on its rocky shoulders. We're talking about the "highest" – a nickname the Feldberg has truly earned. But this applies not only to the mountain itself:
The village of Feldberg in the beautiful Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district is often advertised with the slogan "The highest in the Black Forest"—and Feldberg-Ort, at an altitude of 1277 meters above sea level, certainly lives up to that claim. In fact, Feldberg-Ort is the highest municipality in Germany.
That alone makes the two "Feldberg" mountains a temptation, a challenge for all hikers and adventurers, and therefore a must-see destination for Black Forest holidaymakers.
The Feldberg's allure isn't solely due to its height. One of Baden-Württemberg's largest and oldest nature reserves stretches across its summit, offering an unforgettable glimpse into its flora and fauna. Established in 1937, the Feldberg Nature Reserve covers approximately 42 square kilometers. And then there's the panoramic view during the ascent and from the summit – an experience that leaves nature lovers speechless.
Naturally, there are numerous hiking trails on, around and around this mountain, each with its own unique charm.
The Feldberg Trail is particularly popular. This premium hiking trail begins and ends at the House of Nature in Feldberg and leads along a picturesque panoramic path that, in good weather, offers views as far as the Alps and the Vosges Mountains. The trail also passes over the Seebuck, the second highest peak in the Black Forest. The absolute highlight, however, is climbing to the summit of the Feldberg. The Feldberg Trail features an ascent and descent of 570 meters each and covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers. The hiking time is about four hours.

Also worth the walk – and visible from the Feldberg trail – is the Feldberg Lake at an altitude of 1,109 meters – a nine-hectare feast for the eyes and a place of peace, a place that touches the heart and soul with its beauty.
For winter sports enthusiasts, the Feldberg is particularly attractive as a ski resort. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace might enjoy snowshoeing. In summer, Nordic walking is a popular activity. Of course, climbing, windsurfing, and paragliding are also available.
Those who don't want to hike the entire way to the summit can enjoy the Feldberg cable car. Children can even learn something new on the Feldberg, namely on the Gnome Trail, where they can playfully learn about the capercaillie.
The Feldberg Tower is truly unique, however. Not only does it offer a sensational view from the eleventh floor, but the former radio tower also houses the Black Forest Ham Museum.

The municipality of Feldberg is an amalgamation of the three formerly independent municipalities of Feldberg, Altglashütten, and Falkau, each of which comprises several districts. In total, Feldberg is divided into 30 villages, houses, hamlets, and other settlements, which together create the idyllic picture of the municipality of Feldberg, home to approximately 1,900 inhabitants.
The municipality is relatively young, having been founded only on January 1, 1939. Today, it is considered family- and tourism-friendly, and its offerings are centered around the Feldberg mountain, which has so much to offer in terms of winter sports, nature conservation, and hiking trails. The House of Nature in Feldberg provides the ideal information center and starting point for all kinds of sporting activities.
"The Highest" is definitely a destination for active, nature-loving people who want to experience something special. The Feldberg offers a variety of activities that are appealing both in winter and at any other time of year. And even for those who don't necessarily want to be physically active, a visit is worthwhile, because who would want to miss this panoramic view?
