From the inside it is absolutely clean and well-kept.
Keeping these rustic walls clean so carefully is a great art...everything was really perfect!!! As we enter, we are greeted by a pleasant warmth, enough space for shoes, a view of the creatively and practically furnished bathroom with a large whirlpool bathtub, immediately to the left the large and spacious bedroom... and the view of the beautiful, natural garden with terrace.
We discover the sauna outside, a wonderful place to warm up and relax. The steep stairs are easy to walk, step by step.
Once at the top, the comfortably furnished kitchen invites you to prepare and cook.
All the necessary electrical appliances are available and we didn't miss the dishwasher. We continue into the dining area with enough comfortable space at the large table and a storage room.
The spacious living area adjoins and the stove is a special fixture that spreads wonderful warmth. You may have to turn the heating down a little, otherwise it will get too warm. In the attic there is a very large bedroom with an integrated glass shower room, a very successful composition!
There are additional sleeping spaces up the stairs, but we didn't use them...
So, we were extremely satisfied with everything all around and wish all other guests an equally successful time as we had.

The holiday home is very cozy. The beds were comfortable, everything was very clean - a particularly nice holiday home. Very steep stairs and creaky floorboards. You can't sneak up on them because every step is noisy. I would advise against an occupancy of 8 people as there is no dishwasher. The sleeping accommodation in the attic can only be climbed with skill via a staircase . Unsuitable for small children. But that's what it says in the description. There were three of us and we really enjoyed our stay. The Rössle hotel restaurant had the most delicious food!

We had a wonderful time in the Gerberhaus. The holiday home is furnished with a lot of love, nothing is missing in terms of equipment and everything is harmonious. We immediately ate the spaetzle that was on the table when we moved in. The sauna is small but works and the two of us were able to use it well. Great place to stay! Very cozy home. The stairs were a little hard for my father in law, 76 year old with two knee surgeries but he made it work. The location was amazing and the kitchen had all the things to make yourself at home. We loved the sauna! The gate for the stairs was great since we also had a two year old. It would have been nice to have the recycling directions in English but we were able to do it. Also, an email the day of arrival with instructions on how to get in would be helpful. You feel comfortable in the lovingly restored apartment. The furnishings are complete. The ground floor is a bit dark and the living area could also be a bit more colorful - sofas. The stairs require a certain degree of mobility for 2-4 legged children.

It was a very nice weekend. We wanted to relax, hike, eat and drink well, sit together in the evening and play cards or board games.
All of this is on offer in Alpirsbach. The Gerberhaus has an ideal location. Totally central but no traffic noise. In general, you don't need a car in town as bakers, butchers and 3 supermarkets are within walking distance. Various restaurants are also very close by and with the good beer produced in the local brewery it's a good idea to walk.
The tanner's house was something completely different, we really liked it. The mix of old and modern was really good. Kitchen is good and adequately equipped. Beds comfortable. Bowls were even provided for our dog.

Very cozy holiday home. However, with steep stairs and narrow steps. You should still be fit when it comes to running, because when running downhill your whole foot won't fit on one step. Good slippers are recommended, otherwise you will quickly get cold feet.

The historic tanner's house keeps what the name promises. With creaking floorboards and steep stairs, you can spend a great time in a very lovingly decorated house. You can make yourself really comfortable with an oven, sauna and whirlpool bathtub.

Very great, cozy, old tanner's house that leaves nothing to be desired. Sauna, wellness shower, great big tub. Nothing is missing, we were there for 5 nights as a couple. Come back to the warm fireplace in the living room.

The tanner's house and its furnishings fulfilled all of our wishes and more. The historic half-timbered house is rustically furnished with great attention to detail and, in addition to comfortable beds and seating, with many unusual, hand-made pieces of furniture. The sauna and fireplace were fantastic “recovery aids” after our hikes on cold days. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and allows you to be perfectly self-sufficient.
There were even two bowls for our dog. A little note for dog owners: The steep stairs (especially around the attic) were a bit difficult for our dog when he had to walk down them, so we preferred to carry him down each time.
This could be problematic for larger dogs. Is there a request for improvement?

We had a really nice stay as a girls' trip. The tanner's house is very cozy, well equipped and clean. It is centrally located. We didn't need a car for 4 days.

We spent two wonderful autumn weeks in the tanner's house in the small Black Forest town of Alpirsbach.
The house is very quiet and yet shops, restaurants and inns can be reached on foot in just a few minutes. There is even a small, cozy arthouse cinema with selected films in the monastery's former refectory. The surrounding forests with their varied network of hiking trails are just as easy to reach. The house itself offers everything you need for a carefree holiday in a very individual feel-good atmosphere. We also felt welcome with our two dogs.

We were able to spend relaxing holidays in this well-maintained and well-equipped house with sauna and whirlpool. Great restaurants, delicious beer and the friendly people of Alpirsbach will be remembered.

Thank you for a wonderful time in this great holiday home. It was impressive to live in these old walls. In some places, original components are probably visible (the house dates from 1783), furniture and small wooden details are individually made and coordinated for the house. The facility is clean, the equipment (TV, kitchen with refrigerator and freezer, WiFi, level shower, ...) is modern.
The whirlpool and sauna add some wellness flair, which is rounded off by the babbling of the small river adjacent to the garden. They were lovely days in an exceptional and friendly accommodation.

The sauna and fireplace make the stay perfect for relaxing after a hike. The stairs are quite steep, so you should be aware of that. You can find a bakery and good restaurants within walking distance. You can go hiking from the house, so you don't always have to take the car. We really liked it!

The Gerberhaus is really to fall in love with. Small, winding and really rustic, you immediately feel at home. Nevertheless, there is no lack of modern living comfort: the kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms are ultra-modern and the master bedroom with its four-poster bed and open shower in the bathroom "en suite" is an absolute highlight. When the weather is cold, the wood-burning stove invites you to relax in the living room or you can warm up in the sauna and then listen to the Kinzig whizzing past directly behind the house during the fresh air phase. By the way, the location is also great. Within a few hundred meters there are numerous restaurants and the historic center of Alpirsbach. All in all a very nice house - we felt very comfortable.

We really liked the holiday home. It is stylishly furnished. The kitchen is well organized. We missed storage spaces and some hooks in the bathrooms. A grab bar in the shower would be useful for older visitors. The pillows are crying out for renewal. The green area around the house is well maintained.

Family time

The house is beautiful and fully equipped.
The charm of the old walls and beams is still preserved through the modern fittings and restorations. The sauna and whirlpool make the Gerberhaus a small wellness oasis in Alpirsbach. The house sometimes creaks at night, that's part of it, just like the small stairs (which were n't a problem for us) to the next floor.
Great location, beautiful little garden, feel-good atmosphere and charm. We really enjoyed all of this and will definitely come back.

Nice winter hiking holiday

We fell in love with the tanner's house as soon as we entered.
After a tour of the cottage, this feeling was reinforced. The attention to detail in the house, the absolute cosiness, the fireplace, everything is just right.
The Kinzig river, which runs behind the house, sometimes conveyed the sound of the sea 😉 We can only recommend the Gerberhaus.

It's interesting to the point. This historic accommodation has been lovingly decorated and offers everything you need. However, if creaking floorboards and steep stairs bother you, you should look elsewhere. We were already informed about the steep stairs when we asked and decided to go for it anyway. Which was perfectly fine !
When it comes to door locks, you need to be very sensitive 🙂 That's something we don't know anymore. We had a really nice stay and it was really an experience in this accommodation. Thank you for this offer!
The only drawback in our week was an overfilled garbage can. But that wasn't actually tragic, after all, you have that every now and then at home. We hope that this did not cause any problems.

We were completely satisfied and would choose the accommodation again.
However, the laundry package is relatively expensive at €12 per person. It is therefore advisable, especially for shorter stays, to bring your own bed linen and towels.

The mattresses in the upper sleeping area were quite hard.
The bathroom in the lower area was difficult to heat, which is bad because the bathtub is there...

We spent some very nice days in the holiday home near Rottweil. The area is perfect for hiking, the holiday home was beautifully located and equipped, and the fenced garden was also suitable for our dog.
